Reviews and Ratings
The hotel had some positives like a nice room but needed updating. However, the lack of closet space and seating was a downside, along with the requirement to pre-pay for the room. The service was excellent with friendly staff, but some amenities were lacking. The location was a bit tricky to access but had its charms. Dining options were nothing special and a bit overpriced. Overall, a mix of good and not so good aspects.
The hotel's location was very convenient for exploring downtown Charleston. The rooms had a musky odor initially but were clean overall. The service was accommodating and courteous, and the staff was knowledgeable and helpful. The dining options were average, and the hotel's facilities were well-maintained.
The hotel had a pretty good room deal - for about $200 a night, which seemed a bit high. However, the room itself was lovely with a king-sized bed, so it felt like a decent value for the money.
Staying at the Holiday Day Inn Riverview was a mixed experience. The rooms, located on the 10th floor, were fine, but the patio door gap caused unsettling noise from the wind. However, the service from the staff, ranging from taking orange juice meant for schoolkids to housekeeping, was kind and helpful. The location, while between two busy roads, was close to various attractions and convenient for dining and shopping. The dining experience was underwhelming with mostly bread and carbs, along with poorly prepared bacon and eggs.
The hotel rooms aren't as ugly as the public areas and outside of the building, although just okay. The elevator had a rattling issue at night, but I managed to temporarily fix it. The service was mostly friendly, with the exception of one staff member. The convenient location was ideal for running around historic Charleston but not so much for touring downtown. The dining options were a mix of good and bad, with room for improvement.
